24 years. Electrician to director. Still on the tools.

I started at 16 as an apprentice electrician. Within a year I'd moved into AC, refrigeration, and ventilation — still carrying on electrical at college and picking up electrical work alongside. HVAC became the main trade from then on.

From there I moved into engineering, then service management, and eventually director and shareholder of an M&E contracting firm. Along the way: extensive manufacturer training, quantity surveying, and tender management. Former member of the Institute of Refrigeration.

LB Mechanical Design is the distillation of that — 24 years of hands-on M&E experience, now offered as freelance engineering support for contractors and consultancies who need senior-level delivery without the overhead of a full-time hire.

Age 16

Apprentice Electrician

First year on the tools — wiring, containment, first and second fix.

Early Career

AC, Refrigeration & Ventilation

Moved into HVAC within a year. Continued electrical at college and on site alongside install, maintenance, and fault-finding across commercial systems.

Mid Career

M&E Engineer & Service Manager

Progressed into engineering and service management. Extensive manufacturer training. Data centre and commercial projects.

Senior Career

Director & Shareholder

Director-level responsibility — project delivery, team management, client relationships. Former member, Institute of Refrigeration.
